You know what the world can always use a little more of? Sir Paul Smith. For the better part of 50 years, the legendary British designer has slung his signature wit and whimsy onto all sorts of unlikely canvases: motorcycle helmets covered in leopard print; old-school leather brogues reimagined in deep, shiny eggplant; umbrellas with an explosion of stripes, checks and polka dots clashing across the lining.
Now, Sir Paul has turned his attentions to this classic, Pixar-ish table lamp. As per usual, he’s found a way to imbue a rather staid industrial object with an unexpected palette—a brilliant medley of sea blues, forest green, soft lavender and blazing orange. It’s clean enough to fit into even the most minimalist of interiors, with just enough winking, wisecracking joy about it to put a smile on your face every time you flick it on.
