Spider-Man Finally Showed Up in the New ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer

Okay, sure — plenty of other stuff happens in the Captain America: Civil War trailer that just dropped. We get a much better look at Black Panther in action; the movie’s central conflict gets fleshed out a little more; War Machine gets shot straight out of the sky.

But, like, we can go back and give all that stuff its due later tonight. Because mother-effing Spider-Man finally decided to make an appearance, and that’s the only thing that really matters right now:

It’s only an eight-second glimpse, but there’s plenty to love about this new Spidey already. His costume, for one thing, is an awesome throwback to the way the Webslinger was drawn throughout most of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, with narrower-set eyes and flat lines — as opposed to the raised metallic webbing that Tobey Maguire and (ugh) Andrew Garfield both rocked onscreen.

And then there’s his voice: it’s high and barely post-pubescent, because actor Tom Holland is still in his teens. Some fans are definitely going to clown on that choice, but we’re all-in on it — keeping Peter Parker in high school is the best (and maybe only) way to make this third filmic iteration of the character feel fresh and different.

Anyway, we’d love to keep chatting, but we’ve got about a billion more views of this thing to rack up before the end of the day. We’ll see you all in line at the theatre on May 6th.
