1. British MP Jo Cox has died after being stabbed and shot

“Jo Cox, a member of the Labour Party, died after she was attacked at a library in her district in northern England.

“No motive has been established, but people on each side of the “Brexit” issue immediately halted campaigning.”

2. Men are afraid to take parental leave

“Men still think their careers will suffer if they take leave, according to a new Deloitte survey out this week. More than a third of the 1,000 respondents said they felt that taking leave would “jeopardize their position” at work. More than half said it would be perceived as a lack of commitment, and another 41 percent worry they would lose opportunities on projects.”

3. Prime Minister announces first phase of transit funding for B.C.

“The deal – the first of a series of expected announcements across the country – will pay for nearly $1-billion in public transportation upgrades in B.C., including $740-million in the Vancouver region. Of that, the federal government is contributing $470-million to projects across B.C., $370-million of which will to go the Vancouver area.”
