Stephanie Carcache Is Living Out Her Dreams

There’s no doubt that Stephanie Carcache is going to have a better Christmas than you. She sees your puppy wrapped in a big red bow and raises you a concert in Abu Dhabi.

“I’ve been professionally singing since I was 13 and it started to feel like I had fallen into some kind of a rut,” says Carcache, a classically-trained singer-songwriter. “Abu Dhabi has something called the Classics Season concert and they invited me to be a part of it. It’s so different from anything I’ve ever done, I get to mix a little opera and a full orchestra with a pop sound. It’s going to be amazing.”

Alongside Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Stephan Moccio (who’s worked with The Weekend, Miley Cyrus, John Legend, Fergie and Celine Dion), Carcache will perform December 14th, but not before we ask her a few questions.

What’s your favourite thing to listen to right now? What music is your guilty pleasure?

Right now I am listening to Maria Callas. My guilty pleasure is always going to be Beyoncé.

What’s your worst habit?

Skipping workouts when I’m too tired. Which is when I know I need to go! But I always say “tomorrow.”

What’s a movie that you can watch 100 times in a row?

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I love it. I never get tired of it. I watch it like all the time.

When you play truth or dare what do you pick?

Dare. But, you know, I am such a good girl I don’t like to do dares that are too risky! I think the worst one I actually agreed to do was go to my neighbour’s house and ask for toilet paper. That’s the worst. I pass if it’s anything too bad.

Do you have any reoccurring dreams?

Oh, I have the same dream a lot. I’m backstage at a concert, ready to go on and sing, and I hear the cheering and there’s a light pointing at me and I’m walking up on the stage. That’s when I always wake up.

Do you have any superstitions?

No, I try not to. There’s already so much stuff going on in my life that I have to pay attention to and worry about, I can’t stop to think about why I’m seeing the same number again and again or what to do now that a black cat has crossed my path.

Who would be your dream musical collaboration?

I have to say Stephan Moccio. I can’t believe it’s happening, but for the last two years of my life I told myself and the universe that I really want to work with him. He’s an amazing producer composer. And now it’s happening.

Are there any gifts that you’re hoping to get this holiday season?

I’ll be going back to Miami for Christmas with my family. I’ll probably be on cloud nine from the concert that I won’t even be paying attention to gifts! But if I had to ask for something [laughs] I want a FitBit. I already told you that I skip working out all the time, but if I had a FitBit tracking my steps and calories, I might make more of an effort to get moving!
