QUIZ: Can You Tell the Real Coachella Bands From the Ones We Just Made Up?
Earlier today, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival — an annual Californian desert-based celebration of millennial unemployment — announced its 2017 lineup. Radiohead, Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar are headlining the festival, with the buzzed-about likes of Father John Misty, the xx, Future and Justice playing in support.
But travel a little further down the bill, and things get a little, uh, less familiar. Even to the most ardent and pretentious Pitchfork readers among us, some of the acts playing Coachella this year honestly just sound made up. Which is precisely why we decided to make some up, put ’em alongside real bands performing at the fest, and see if you can tell ’em apart. Good luck and godspeed.
