Porsche’s New 911 GT2 RS Is a Turbocharged Hellbeast of a Car

So, it’s been quite a month for “best ever” automobiles, huh? Earlier this week, Jaguar announced its fastest road car ever, just a week after Audi announced its fastest convertible ever, prompting me to declare that we are in the midst of an automotive arms race. Well, it looks like the Cold War of Cars isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Today, Porsche unveiled its 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS,  described as the “fastest and most powerful street-legal 911 model ever.” There’s that word again: ever! Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this promises to be the halo car of Porsche’s 911 lineup, more capable than anything the automaker has built to date.

We could get into specifics of this crazy supercar, but because it’s Canada 150 weekend, and it’s high time you got the hell out of the office, and the majority of you only gawk at the photos in these posts anyhow, I’ll just give you the Coles Notes:

  • 0-100 in 2.8 seconds
  • 340 km per hour top speed
  • 700 Horsepower, 553 ft-lb of torque
