Could Mercedes-AMG’s Project One Be the Bugatti-Killer?
Mercedes-AMG just teased the world with a cryptic body shot of what the upcoming Project One hypercar — the F1 car designed for the road — will look like.
It’s all still under wraps, but we did get an undisguised sneak peak at the powertrain. Consisting of a 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 and four electric motors, the hybrid powertrain is confirmed to produce well over 1,000 horsepower and reach speeds over 350 kph.
Mercedes says they will produce only 275 cars at $2.54 million each, so uh, you should definitely start saving up now.
The downfall of the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar may be that the engine needs to be rebuilt at 49,890 kilometres. That’s just the life of a racecar engine. But let’s be real: the chances of reaching that mileage is slim. Also if you can afford it in the first place; do you really care?
We’ll just have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show to see exactly what the potential Bugatti-Killer will look like.
