The Autohaus Is the House of Your Car’s Dreams
Damn Austin, back at it again with the cool houses. We’ve already showed you the Barcode House and the Lake Austin House. Now it’s time to check out the Autohaus, the house of your car’s dreams. Yeah, you read that right – the Autohaus is as much a home as it is a total car sanctuary.
Designed by Matt Fajkus Architecture, the focal point of the home is the lower level garage devoted to the owner’s extensive automobile collection.
The second story is tight living quarters with a combined living room and kitchen.
Now, obviously when you make a house to showcase your cars you always want to keep an eye on them. The second story allows just that thanks to a glazed wall in the main living area, affording luxuriant views of the garage below. The second story also has a large terrace accessible through custom-made steel and glass sliding doors, giving you that much-sought-after outdoor/indoor living space.
Finally, the master bedroom is cantilevered over the driveway creating a large carport where you can park your everyday toys.
