Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya Reunited on the Ice and Nobody Could Handle How Cute It Was

Ducks fly together. Always. Case in point: Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya. The two Anaheim Mighty Ducks legends haven’t played together in seven years, ever since Kariya was forced to hang up the skates early due to injuries. But the longtime teammates were in Toronto over the weekend for the Hockey Hall of Fame festivities (both were inducted this year) and it looks like the old chums are still just as we remember them: inseparable.

As soon as the two BFFs got in a room together, they were hamming it up like old times.

That said, everyone was a bit dismayed when Selanne and Kariya wound up playing on opposite teams in Sunday’s Legends Classic game. It wasn’t up to them — the game was split into Canadians vs. World players — but it just felt wrong.

So wrong, in fact, that Kariya decided to trade himself to Team World mid-game so he could play alongside his favourite right winger. And that’s when the sparks flew.

The Finnish Flash pulled of a sensational between-the-legs drop pass to Kariya, who wristed it home. Just like old times. Electric.

After seeing that, fans who grew up watching the dynamic duo own the NHL in the ’90s simply couldn’t contain all the feels. (We’ll be honest: neither could we.)

You could even feel the fireworks as Kariya and Selanne hung out in the locker room area after the game. These two go together like peas and carrots. Chemistry 101.

“You looked unbelievable!” Selanne told Kariya during a scrum.

“That’s the only word in his vocabulary,” Kariya quipped to reporters. “We just had a drinking game about that last night.”
