Audi Asked This Freestyle Skiier to Go on an Epic Run — Without Any Snow
Okay, so you’ve probably seen crazy skiing videos before. And you’ve probably seen cool car commercials before. But this clip, in which French pro skier Candide Thovex goes for a rip in an ad for the new Audi Quattro, is very different. Trust us. For starters, there’s no snow in it.
Instead, the 35-year-old daredevil schusses down sand, grassy hills, a volcano, the Great Wall of China, and even the ocean in this bonkers edit. In case you were unaware, these are not the normal sorts of slopes that skiers are known to traverse. Remember how Vin Diesel rode a motorcycle on water in xXx: Return of Xander Cage? This is basically the skiing version of that — only it’s real.
Lest anyone think fancy editing or movie magic were involved, here’s some behind-the-scenes footage of the previous ad the freeskiing sensation/madman did for Audi, wipeouts and all. Apparently, this dude’s made a living off of taking his sport to previously uncharted terrains. Dusty dirt paths, weathered footbridges, wheat fields, winding forests, gravel, asphalt — Thovex is game to zip through any and all conditions. Kind of like the Quattro. Oh snap! We see what they did there.
