Colombian electro-tropical band, Bomba Estero, crafts a sound as sultry and exotic as a summer night in Cartagena. El Alma y el Cuerpo is a standout track from their 2013 album, Elegancia Tropical.
Mala Rodriguez
Flamenco influenced hip-hop artist Mala Rodriguez’s Tengo un Trato, from her 2013 album, Bruja, shows her at her most soulful and fluid.
Manu Chao
An important figure in Latin alternative music since the ’80s, Manu Chao, sings in more than eight languages. Me Gustas Tu, from his 2008 album, Próxima Estación: Esperanza, is a classic in any one of them.
Profetas
The members of the Afro-Colombian/hip hop/ska band, Profetas, are as diverse as their music. Throw on their 2010 album Baila if you want to dance. Keep it off if you don’t.

Your girlfriend’s favourite new artist, Mexican singer-songwriter Carla Morrison, has a voice that practically drips out of the speakers. Eres Tu, from her 2012 album Déjenme Llorar is a stunner that stands up to repeated listenings.
