Stop Using Your Phone Like It’s 2019

Samsung & Sharp

Can your phone handle life in the 2020s? If you’re regularly faced with spinning buffering wheels, pixellated photos and lacklustre video quality, the answer is probably not. These (and a bunch of other 2010s-era tech woes) are all things of the past, however, thanks to Samsung’s new Galaxy S20, which might be the smartest smartphone they’ve ever made. The Next Generation of Galaxy is here and these are just a few examples of how it’s making life easier in the new decade.

Fast just got faster

Sure, you don’t really need to livestream your vacation, but some things are too good not to share. Whether you’re broadcasting the panoramic ocean views from your beachside bungalow in Bora Bora, or just watching HD sports highlights in the airport lounge on the phone’s 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display, Samsung’s GalaxyS20 offers seamless HyperFast speeds for uploads, downloads, gaming and streaming thanks to its built-in 5G modem.

4K is out, 8K is in

Pranking your kids is frowned upon by some, but those people clearly don’t have a sense of humour. The 2020 Samsung Galaxy S20 is designed around a revolutionary camera that helps you capture everything in your life—including the occasional well-meaning practical joke—in stunning detail. Foremost is its 8K video camera, which in helps you record those priceless childhood moments, capturing pro-grade video and vivid photos without flash using Bright Night. Previously pulling a still from a video would have left you with a grainy, low-res image, but thanks to 8K VideoSnap, that’s a thing of the past. With the new Galaxy S20 you can choose your favourite moment from an 8K video and instantly turn it into a 33MP image ready to be cropped, enlarged or printed. Your kids will thank you someday… probably.

Epic photo or viral video? Do both at once

Previous generations of phones would have you choose between shooting photos or video, and risk missing important moments in the process. The Samsung Galaxy S20 lets you do both at once, allowing you to shoot, direct and produce on the go, meaning you can capture every second of your co-worker’s attempt at a TikTok dance challenge without missing a beat. With Single Take, the new Galaxy puts its entire array of cameras to work capturing whatever’s in front of you, creating GIFs, videos and images at once with the touch of a button. Using its Ultra-wide camera and Wide camera, you get simultaneous photo and video capture up to 10 seconds, and even video effects like time lapse andreverse. No more scrolling through dozens of takes either, thanks to the phone’s advanced AI, which offers a concise portfolio of recommended images and video clips. Just film it, post it and watch the likes roll in.

Get closer to the action than ever before

Even the biggest fans end up with crappy seats from time to time, and previous-gen smartphone cameras are universally terrible at taking clear pictures from a distance. The Samsung Galaxy S20, however, puts you court-side every time thanks to an astounding 108MP camera (available in the Ultra 5G model). A massive leap forward in both resolution and zoom for mobile photography it uses Space Zoom—a combination of Hybrid Optic Zoom and AI-powered Super Resolution Zoom—to get you closer to your subjects than ever while maintaining incredibly crisp image definition. Are you ready to kiss your pixels goodbye? Game on.
