Dos Equis is Replacing ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World’

Get ready to say your goodbyes, friends. The Most Interesting Man in the World is leaving us – kind of.

Dos Equis is parting ways with Jonathan Goldstein, the 77-year-old actor who has starred as the face of the brand since the campaign’s launch in 2006.

Goldstein’s final go as The Most Interesting Man in the World begins airing Thursday, and will see his character board a rocket for Mars, because why not. According to AdAge, Goldstein delivers his catchphrase “Stay thirsty, my friends” aboard the rocket, as the campaign’s familiar voiceover announces “his only regret is not knowing what regret feels like.”

Ha. Classic.

Grieve quickly, though, as this will not be the last we see of The Most Interesting Man in the World. The campaign is set to return in the fall with a new, younger actor, in time for Dos Equis’ new sponsorship of the College Football Playoff in the U.S – which, like, is a thing people actually care about, I guess.

Goldstein, the man, is currently embroiled in a real life, honest-to-goodness legal dispute with a talent agency alleging it’s owed commissions from the actor.

I guess you could say: He doesn’t always get sued, but when he does, he (probably) drinks (a lot of) Dos Equis.
