Wet Hot American Summer Is Returning for Another Netflix Series

Netflix has wisely decided to spend another summer at camp.

Remember the promise the Wet Hot American Summer “teens” made to each other in the original cult classic? The group — which included the star-studded likes of Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler and Bradley Cooper — agreed to meet up again ten years after that summer of debauchery came to an end. Well, it’s happening. And you better make it your beeswax to be there.

Thanks to the popularity of last year’s prequel series, it was announced today that Michael Showalter and David Wain will be writing and directing a new Netflix original series, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, to be released in 2017. Along with every raunchy joke in the book, we’re looking forward to the running gag of characters looking a whole hell of a lot older than they’re supposed to be. The prequel had actors in their late-thirties, early-forties playing teenagers; with this new series, they’ll be playing twenty-somethings. There’s been no word yet on whether the entire original cast will be back for another summer, but based on the promo released by Netflix (featuring that aforementioned scene from the movie), it seems like a fair bet.

See you there.
