Back in Grade 7, when I was but a wee gangly lad with a cracking voice and too much gel in my hair, I wore a lot of those free T-shirts that came with cases of beer. My older brother would give them to me whenever he bought brews for the parties he threw in our parents’ basement. I’d never actually tasted an alcoholic beverage of any kind, but I liked to imagine that these shirts — bearing the slogans and logos of Moosehead, Canadian, Coors Light and Corona — made me seem more adult and announced to the world that I was, in fact, here to party.
