1. We couldn’t design a nicer looking cottage even with unlimited money

“Toronto veterinarian Mark Dilworth and lawyer David Bronskill hadn’t even considered building a cottage until they saw how excited their rescue dogs, Stanley, AJ, and Piglet, were when they visited Mark’s sister’s place on Haliburton Lake in secluded Central Ontario.

“On his first site visit in 2012, the architect walked the property, swam in the lake, and stood on a small hilltop where the last owner had cleared a space for vehicles to turn around. As he looked down over the valley, with its two bays and acres of poplar and ash trees, the landscape unfolded before him like a panorama.”

2. I have a crush on this vintage Autobianchi Bianchina convertible

“If you were a stylish Italian who wanted a mini-car in the 1960s, and the Fiat 500 was just too ubiquitous, you likely would have ordered up an Autobianchi Bianchina.

“With a properly stowable roof, the Cabriolet was particularly popular among celebrities. Allegedly, even the great Brigitte Bardot drove one. It makes sense that this would be the case, as this is a very look-at-me kind of small car, and you can definitely be seen, in the Hollywood sense, when the top is stowed.”

3. Turtlenecks were everywhere at the Grammys and here’s proof

“Turtlenecks! If you were previously on the fence about if you could pull one off, may we direct your attention to this year’s Grammys, which featured no less than five instances of the winter favourite.

“If we’ve learned anything from this year’s Grammys, it’s that famous men are no longer interested in exposing their throats, or just can’t really deal with bow ties right now.”

4. Tom Hanks is going to have such strong cardigan game after playing Mr. Rogers

“Tom Hanks wants to be your neighbour. The actor has signed on to star as Mr. Rogers in the upcoming biopic You Are My Friend, a drama about the children’s television pioneer.

“TriStar Pictures, which announced the movie Monday, described the film as a heart-warmer in which ‘a cynical journalist begrudgingly accepts an assignment to write a profile piece on the beloved icon and finds his perspective on life transformed.’”

5. We really, really hope Norm MacDonald’s going to get his own talk show on Netflix

“Norm Macdonald fielded questions from fans today in a Reddit AMA assisted by The Washington Post, and he dropped some pretty big news for fans of his podcast Norm Macdonald Live.

“‘I think I succeeded and have now been offered a talk show by Netflix. All the podcasts were rehearsals,’ said Norm.”
