1. The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ trailer will hit you in the feels
“It’s been a long and hard journey for Bohemian Rhapsody, but as they say, the show must go on. No person better embodies the lyrics to one of Queen’s final songs as a band than Freddie Mercury, the glamorous, tragic figure at the center of this biopic that’s played here by Rami Malek. It’s a daunting task to portray the legendary Queen frontman, but in the Bohemian Rhapsody trailer, it looks like Malek more than steps up to the task.”
2. Snapchat tests out unskippable ads
“Snapchat creator Snap has started testing unskippable six-second ads. The social network began the experiment on Monday, with promos for Deadpool 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S9. For the moment, Snapchat is only displaying unskippable ads on its Shows platform, which is where users can view professionally made content from brands like Disney.”
3. Spike Lee’s Cannes speech spikes anti-Trump vibe
“Last night at the Cannes Film Festival, Spike Lee unveiled his new film BlacKkKlansman, based on the unlikely true story of a black police officer who managed to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. The movie had a gangbusters premiere and left many attendees in tears thanks to its coda: A documentary montage of the conflict in Charlottesville, astoundingly edited, that ends with a dedication to Heather Heyer, who was run down and killed when a man drove his car into a group of people protesting white nationalism.”
