The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is the Most Luxurious Yet

Cadillac recently unveiled its 2021 Escalade, the car’s first major redesign in five years. The 22-year-old SUV keeps its signature design elements from previous models, but a host of high-tech upgrades, additional space and a sleeker interior make this stalwart feel brand new.

First, the screen. The curved Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) screen is an industry-first. The super hi-res visual display delivers perfect blacks and features the widest colour range of any car on the road today. The new augmented reality navigation makes getting around easier by improving navigation with directional overlays and live street views. Plus, a semi-autonomous driving system lets you go hands-free on the highway.

Second, the sound. Audiophiles take note: as someone whose car is so old that I’m forced to rely on my iPhone for music, the option for an AKG 36-speaker sound system is a game-changer. New audio technology also makes it easier to communicate with those in back. Instead of craning your neck to talk to your kids, keep your eyes on the road and a microphone will reverberate in a rear speaker.

The car also keeps its signature aesthetic while upping the luxury ante. The traditional premium luxury model comes in a classic chrome, but if you’re after an edgier look you can now customize the Sport models with a black mesh grille and black trim. The interior has also been updated in a sophisticated beige trim and has a rounder, streamlined design reminiscent of the Escala. If it’s comfort you’re after, there’s way more room in the third row and additional storage space. All in all, the 2021 Escalade is an impressive iteration of a classic.
