City Tours: Toronto Content Creator Didier Young on the Charms of Yorkville and His Favourite Indie Cafes

SOREL & Sharp

Daily walks have become the highlights of our day. But just because the snow is falling and the temperature’s dropping, doesn’t mean you can’t still get your 10k steps in. (After all, Toronto really is prettiest in the winter). So, whether you’re discovering the city’s hidden gems or revisiting your favourite haunts, a sturdy and stylish pair of boots is essential. Here, Toronto content creator Didier Young shares the charms of Yorkville and spotlights the city’s best independent cafes.

Favourite neighbourhood in the city and why?
I’ve always had a soft spot for Yorkville. There’s something charming about grabbing a sweet treat and eating it while strolling along Hazelton Avenue. I also love having dinner at one of the stellar restaurants around the neighbourhood or simply having a good shopping day with friends at Holt Renfrew.

Nature walk or pounding the pavement?
I love them both although I do tend to pound the pavement more. However, sometimes I just need to escape from the city and there’s truly nothing quite like a nature walk to clear my mind.

Any go-to spots for a bite and a coffee?
Tough question! Toronto is lucky to have so many fantastic cafes around the city! Some of my favourites include Neo Coffee Bar, Milkys and Bar Raval.

Best parks in the city for a stroll?
Queen’s Park! It’s also super close to U of T, where I love strolling as well. It feels like I’m in England whenever I go through the university area.
