How Coach and Entrepreneur Antwi Atuahene is Driven to Win In the New Acura MDX

Acura & Sharp

When you’re as driven as Antwi Atuahene, the hustle doesn’t stop at the buzzer. As Assistant General Manager and Head Of Basketball Operations for the Niagara River Lions, as well as the GM for the Mississauga Tigers baseball team, he spends his days pursuing victory on the court and the field. Between meetings and practices, he keeps his head in the game by mentoring young athletes and working on entrepreneurial projects as an event planner and marketing director. We teamed Atuahene up with the new 2022 Acura MDX A-Spec and followed him for the day to see how he does it all.

“To start off my day I do an abundance meditation for about 15 minutes. Then I usually spend about an hour with whatever book I’m reading and getting my mind ready for my day. From there I usually go through all of my morning emails, then head over to the Mississauga Tigers, where I get my first workout in. The 2022 MDX is incredibly smooth and quiet on the road, which makes it the perfect way to keep my zen flowing all the way to work. Everything about the ride just feels balanced and even. You can hardly feel the bumps.”

“Since we can’t meet in person right now, after I work out I’ll have a few meetings over Zoom. Because I’m a general manager for two different clubs, I’m usually delegating and making sure everyone stays on the same page. I also work on creating strategic partnerships with major companies, which elevate and enhance our organizations. I usually fast for the morning because it keeps me sharp and alert, and have my first meal around 2:30: raw pumpkin seeds, raisins, dark chocolate-covered almonds and alkaline water.”

“In the afternoon I like to connect with players in LAB (Life After Basketball), a program that teaches basketball players how to transition to the entrepreneurial world. On some days I love just taking a drive downtown, listening to music and visualizing my future. I’ll park at the Scotiabank Centre and envision myself pulling up for a game as general manager of the Toronto Raptors because that’s what I want to be. Driving there in the MDX gives me that feeling of luxury. It’s sleek, it’s powerful, and it commands respect on the road.”

“I might listen to one of my favourite sports podcasts as I drive home at the end of the day. I also love listening to music from my favourite artists. That’s another thing I love about the MDX, the sound system makes me feel like I’m at a concert – I just get engulfed in the music. Depending on how much volume, it can go all the way from a spa vibe to a concert, so it’s great for whatever I’m feeling.”

Championship Performance: The 2022 Acura MDX

With its elongated hood, oversized 3D diamond pattern grille, and Jewel Eye LED front headlights, the new 2022 Acura MDX makes a powerful statement at the curb. This 7-passenger SUV, however, doesn’t just talk a big game. With 290 horsepower on tap, a 10-speed automatic transmission and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, it’s got performance where it counts. The driver-focused cabin is just as dynamic, with premium details like embossed patterned metal trim, interior accent lighting and a sporty 3-spoke leather steering wheel. Game on.
