Cabot Cape Breton, the Links On the Edge of the Continent
When we talk about the world’s greatest golf courses, Canada isn’t usually high on the list of contenders. On the edge of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, however, Cabot Cape Breton is home to one of the country’s most impressive golfing resorts, with courses (and architecture) on par with anything in New Zealand or California. With its rolling dunes, lush forests, and sweeping vistas of the sparkling blue Atlantic Ocean, and candy-coloured sunsets, a stay at Cabot Links is worth every bit of the time it takes to get here.
As one of Canada’s premier golf destinations, Cabot Links boasts features and amenities to satisfy the most seasoned golfers, including three restaurants, a variety of architectural accommodations, and two 18-hole golf courses counted among the 100 best in the world by Golf Digest magazine. First and foremost is Cabot Links, designed by Canadian golf course architect Rod Whitman with 18 ocean view holes, five of which play directly adjacent to the beach. Cabot Cliffs, meanwhile, is designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and offers rugged cliffs and dunes alongside 18 challenging holes. Opened for the 2021 season, meanwhile, is the new 10-hole short course, The Nest, featuring a Rod Whitman and Dave Axland design, along with some of the best views on the property.
