If you’re a fan of soccer — or football, or fùtbol, depending on your country of origin/level of pretension — then the next few weeks are going to be pretty spectacular.
The Copa América kicked off last Friday in the US, with the likes of Lionel Messi’s Argentine squad and James Rodriguez’s Colombian crew vying for intercontinental glory. And this Friday, the titans of Europe — World Cup holders Germany, the always-threatening Spain, upstart contenders Belgium — will commence battle in France for the UEFA European Championship. Oh, and, uh, the MLS regular season is still happening, too.
The only question now is: where are you going to go to catch all the action? For all of you in Toronto, the good people at adidas Canada just made that a very easy decision.
The sporting giant just unveiled THE BASE, a 2,200-square foot cathedral dedicated to the beautiful game. In addition to a 40-seat VIP viewing lounge complete with a 16’ x 9’ HD projection screen — which’ll be screening games from both tournaments — the pop-up boasts all the latest adidas gear you’ll see on the pitch: the chrome boots Messi, Paul Pogba and Gareth Bale will be rocking; plus all the latest international kits, which can be customized on site.
Located at 584 College Street, THE BASE is open everyday from 10 AM to 9 PM until July 31st.
