The Full ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer is Finally Here, and It’s Absolutely Lit

Okay, we’ll admit it: we didn’t have high hopes for Suicide Squad. Mostly, it was due to our overall lack of faith in all post-Nolan DC flicks: Man of Steel was a tepid, dragging, disaster porn mess; Batman Vs. Superman, meanwhile, looks like an overcooked, overstuffed and entirely needless set-up to a Justice League movie none of us asked for.

And sure, while Suicide Squad‘s premise sounded promising — a misfit gang of supervillains being let out of prison to tackle impossible missions for the government — excuse us if we weren’t completely sold on the idea of Jordan Catalano taking up the mantle of the Joker, or, frankly, having to watch Will Smith in anything with the sour taste of After Earth still lingering in our mouths.

But, happily, it appears we were wrong. The first full Suicide Squad trailer dropped last night, and it couldn’t be more awesome:

Set to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, it’s a rousing two-and-a-half minutes of gleeful mayhem and swirling insanity. The footage looks and feels effervescent, alive, and, believe it or not, actually fun — everything DC’s main man Zack Snyder is virtually incapable of delivering. So thank you, David Ayer, for restoring our faith in what these movies can be. We’ll be first in line when Suicide Squad opens on August 5th.
