ICYMI: Chewbacca Yelling at Han Solo in English Will Make Your Morning
So, Star Wars, man. If you haven’t seen Rogue One yet you need to quit your job and get to the multiplex ASAP as possible. My hot take: It’s even better than Force Awakens. It got me so pumped on Star Wars again, I almost immediately started rewatching the original trilogy.
In the general hysteria of reading every Star Wars-related thing I can find, I stumbled on this clip of Peter Mayhew doing Chewbacca’s lines on the set of Empire Strikes Back. To help out the other actors, Mayhew would fill in Chewbacca’s howls with his own dialogue. In this clip that Mayhew tweeted out last month, the lines don’t really match up with the script, which makes me suspect he was doing a wee bit of ad-libbing.

During filming, George Lucas had actor David Prowse, the man inside Darth Vader’s suit, deliver the actual dialogue. His muffled, nasally voice gives off a real Spaceballs vibe in the clip above. Fun!
