Things A Man Should Never Wear: Camo Edition

Camouflage, as a fashion trend, is a lot like a monster from a horror film—in a good way. Every time you think it’s dead, it gets right back up. And at some point—whether it’s the sixth unnecessary sequel or the ninth straight season of men in camo pants—you catch yourself liking the damn thing. Or, not.

The point is this: camouflage is still around, still relevant, and that’s not changing any time soon. Remember that old saying about what to do if you can’t beat something?

But, you don’t have to adopt the trend exactly like everyone else—you might as well do it your own way. And this summer, designers have given you every opportunity to do just that, thinking beyond the typical woodland patterns and taking camo in every possible direction: bolder; subtler; more technical; more artful. Still, venture forth into the realm of sniper wear with caution. Here are a few looks to avoid, plus a few worthy of your attention.

Camo Shorts

Unless you’re a cast member of Jersey Shore dressing up for a night out, leave these shorts where they belong: an incinerator.

Camo Trucker Hat

Trucker hats in general are a bad idea. A camo print is just salt in the wound.

Camo Driving Shoes

We only approve of these driving shoes if you always only wear them while driving. Alone. No one should be subjected to them.

Camo Crocs

Crocs are always a no-go. Always.

Camo Hoodie

This hoodie had the right idea when it lost the sleeves. Now if it can just get ride of the hood…and the body.

Camo Fur Jacket

Camo and fur. Two trends that are difficult to pull off and two that have zero business together in the first place.
