Here’s Your Sneak Peek at Virgil Abloh’s First Louis Vuitton Show

Virgil Abloh’s reign as Louis Vuitton’s newest men’s artistic director has started with a bang. A, uh, blank bang. After teasing the designs of his first sneaker for LV, the fashion house took to Instagram today to give us a glimpse his upcoming variation on the classic record box/trunk. However, much to the surprise of LV fanatics, it’s missing the signature LV monogram on it.

The blank trunk will be part of Abloh’s debut LV collection for SS19. The long-awaited designs are set to launch this Thursday at Paris Fashion Week, the day after Off-White’s show. The edgy trunk is all-black, with matte metallic bolts and a sturdy clasp. “A number of garments in the collection are laser-precise studies of the most normal, basic things that men wear today,” Abloh told Financial TimesThe collection represents Abloh’s unique approach to fashion, mixing streetwear with tailored garments. As mentioned above, LV also teased Abloh’s first sneaker blueprints for the brand. A first look at the actual sneakers has reached the Interwebs as well.

LV also just gave us an Insta-glimpse at Virgil’s take on their iconic Millionaire sunglasses, which look absolutely fire.

The initial announcement of Abloh as LV’s new artistic director had mixed reviews, but his first LV collection has been highly anticipated in the fashion world. It sure as hell’s got our attention.
