SHARP Hosts Hublot and Football Star Lorenzo Insigne at Private Gathering in Toronto
This past Friday, Hublot and SHARP rallied an intimate group of VVIPs at EPOCH Bar & Kitchen for a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Countdown dinner, with special guest and Toronto FC star Lorenzo Insigne. The evening was the Canadian instalment of the brand’s ongoing Hublot Loves Football campaign, which leads into the World Cup kick-off later this month.
Guests were welcomed into the space to sip specialty crafted cocktails, explore the latest watches from the Hublot collection, and take a pause for a photo opp and chat with Lorenzo. This was followed by a brief Q&A with the Toronto FC star, who spoke of his experience in the league, his relationship with Hublot, and about joining the Toronto club. Insigne made the move to Toronto surrounded by ample fanfare, as his contract made him the highest paid player in the MLS to date — his $14M salary is higher than the 2022 payrolls of nine different MLS teams, including that of CF Montreal.
While the Hublot has been a major sponsor of football leagues, teams, and tournaments around the globe for some time now, the World Cup remains the pinnacle. In 2022, Hublot once again holds the title of the tournament’s Official Timekeeper, which in turn brings a new limited edition watch into its portfolio. In 2018, Hublot built a variant of its Connected watch specifically for use by referees of the World Cup, but for 2022 a third generation Connected has arrived, known as the Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The new watch can be purchased either in Qatari colours, or paired with a strap matching any of the 32 participating country flags. The latest Connected watch also comes equipped with a newly designed dedicated football app, allowing its wearers to keep close tabs on the tournament.
