Imagine a beekeeper in a bespoke suit. Really envision it: he wears a pinstripe ensemble, complete with notched lapels and a matching tie; sheer, webbed material drapes over his face, hanging off the brim of a boater hat. Now, picture this beekeeper strutting down the runway in Milan, accompanied by a flock of similarly-styled friends. That’s Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2027 in a nutshell.

See? Not even kidding.
For Spring/Summer 2027, Thom Browne took inspiration from 1998’s A Bug’s Life — a mainstay in the backseat of minivans everywhere — to craft some of the most uniquely-proportioned garments in recent memory. “I thought it was a charming story to play with and reference for these times that we are living in,” Browne said backstage.
Browne is bold — notoriously so. He’s not afraid to style men in skirts or wrap a watering can in seersucker. Here, Browne doubles down: in a stunning subversion of bridal fashion, one look featured a breathtaking pearl-embroidered tulle veil.

Held in the sun-soaked courtyard of Milan’s Palazzo Serbelloni (a Neoclassical wonder, once home to Napoleon), Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2027 transformed the space into a glamorous garden party. “In Thom’s garden… flowers bloom in seersucker,” reads a poem on the brand’s site. “Freshly watered… bugs buzz crawl and flutter…”
As we’ve come to expect from Thom Browne, each look contains layers — both literally and metaphorically. Plunging v-neck sweaters complement free-flowing Oxford shirts, worn beneath sharp sports jackets or tailored trench coats. Accessories came in several iterations, from large-brimmed boater hats to nearly knee-high socks.
Yet for all the experimental silhouettes and daring colour palettes, Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2027 attracted onlookers from an impressive range of industries; spectators included everyone from House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. If that’s indicative of its on-shelf appeal, then Thom Browne Spring/Summer 2027 should be a smashing success.
