A Few Things To Help Cope With Today: Here’s How We’re Distracting Ourselves

The election was hard on all of us. It has made today feel like a hazy lucid nightmare, one we’re still struggling to emerge from without walking straight into traffic. Sorry, that escalated.

In an effort to clear our minds, we’ve been searching for the best stories of the day that are not election-related in any way.

1. This dog can’t figure out how to walk through an open door

“‘Buddy ran into this glass door once, and he wouldn’t come through without me closing the door and opening it in front of him for a good week. This is one of the times I decided to record it, and boy am I glad I did!'”

2. Toddler and baby gorilla play adorable game of peek-a-boo

“Sherry Chute filmed her son Isaiah playing with the baby named Kamoli during a visit to Columbus Zoo in Ohio.” (Ugh, Ohio.)

3. Elephants comfort comrades during rescue in China

“The elephants were trapped for two days in a man-made pond with steep concrete walls. As the animals struggled, unable to climb out, other elephants came to their assistance. The free elephants reached their trunks down into the pond, in displays that suggest they may have been trying to help, or at least comfort, the trapped animals.”

4. Remember this guy and his lion buddies?

“Richardson regularly posts GoPro footage of his work with animals, giving viewers the closest encounter they’re ever likely to have with a lion.”

5. There’s a live feed of sea lions on Hanson Island, BC

They seem pretty chill.
