IWC Schaffhausen

As deeply rooted in Schaffhausen as IWC may seem, it’s actually an American who’s wholly responsible for the brand’s inception. Bostonian engineer and watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones founded the International Watch Company in 1868, leveraging Swiss watchmaking talent, (then) modern American manufacturing processes, and access to hydroelectric power to build what soon became a true watchmaking powerhouse in the region. Product innovation came fast, as the brand launched the first mechanical pocket watch to display hours and minutes digitally in 1885. Fast forward to present day, and IWC is the industry’s leader in the pilot watch category, all while offering a healthy range of collections that cover off everything from dress watches to divers, and everything in between.
