What Does ‘Musk’ Really Mean?

Did you know: the word “musk,” which refers to a particularly bold and manly scent, comes from the glandular secretions of the musk deer, whose aforementioned glands were said to resemble a scrotum. Thus, the word derives from the Ancient Greek “moshkos,” for, well, you know. So think about that the next time you describe something as “musky.”
