She may be on a show called Awkward, but actress Jillian Rose Reed is anything but. The affable 24-year-old is game for anything and doesn’t mind a laugh at her own expense.
“I’m not so far removed from my teens that I forgot what high school was like,” says Reed. “I was a theatre and choir nerd, I wasn’t the queen bee. So, even though I love what I do, at the same time I’m like ‘Get me back out of high school, please!'”
While her character Tamara is busy going through the trials and tribulations of high school (from bad hair to catfish-ing, as you do), Reed has taken to YouTube for something even more revealing. We’re Dating is what Reed calls “a relationship variety show” where she and her boyfriend listen to new music, sing covers and talk about dating, love and sex. Fans of the gorgeous actress — you might’ve also seen her on Weeds or HBO’s Hung — are encouraged to even send in their own relationship questions for her to answer.
As usual, we have our own round of questions to ask.
Would you rather take a cold shower every morning or lose an hour of sleep every night?
Lose an hour of sleep. I really enjoy a hot shower. Cold showers are terrible!
Would you rather say everything that’s on your mind or never speak again?
Oh, that’s tricky. I think I would rather say everything that’s on my mind, which would absolutely get me into trouble. I feel like never speaking again would be the hardest thing in the world. I’d probably lose friends, but that’s okay. [Laughs.]
Would you rather be able to hear every conversation around you or be able to take back something you’ve said?
Take back something I’ve said. I do not want to know everything that’s going around me! On the other hand, I’m always saying things that I wish I could immediately take back and just swallow back down.
Would you rather always tell your best friend a lie or always tell your parents the truth?
I think I’d tell my parents all the truths! I live across the street from my parents and my mom is my best friend. She pretty much knows everything about my life anyway, so it wouldn’t be a huge adjustment.
Would you rather be able to read people’s minds or be able to tell them their future?
I would want to read their minds. That’s a weird personal thing because I don’t want to know my future in anyway, so it’s self-serving. I would read my boyfriend’s mind all day every day.
Would you rather publish your diary or make a movie based on your most embarrassing moment?
The most embarrassing moment thing doesn’t faze me anymore. Being on a show called Awkward, everyone always asks about my worst moment. I’ve told the story so many times that everyone knows it by now. In high school, my friend was picking me up and I mistook someone else’s car for hers. I got in and there was a sandwich wrapper on the seat and I pushed it off and got in. It was a girl who had put down the sandwich that she was eating and I threw it on the floor of her car and sat down!
