Sol Rodriguez Is Devious, and We Love Her for It

It isn’t easy to stand out on a show like Devious Maids, with its over-the-top storylines and stacked, sexy cast. But newcomer Sol Rodriguez should have no problem holding her own.

Playing the rebellious daughter of a maid in the Lifetime dramedy’s upcoming fourth season, the Argentinean actress promises that she’ll be stirring up even more trouble than fans of the show have come to expect. “My character will create a lot of drama in the show,” she says. “During table readings, I just couldn’t stop laughing. The writing is so good.”

When she’s not working, Rodriguez likes to lay low and and hang out with friends. A real departure for the reformed party girl, apparently. “I’m not about that party life anymore,” she laughs. “I did it enough [growing up] in Miami. Don’t even ask!”

Would you rather stay in or go out on a date?

Stay in on a date. Like I said, I’m a grandma now — I love staying home. I sound so boring! [Laughs.]

Would you rather be a foot taller or a foot shorter?

Definitely a foot taller; if I picked a foot shorter I would disappear. I’m already a tiny human.

Would you rather be transported 100 years into the future or 100 years into the past?

100 years into the past. I feel like I don’t belong in this era. The past seems so much more interesting, exciting and genuine. 100 years into the future sounds like a lot of technology and that, to me, is boring already.

Would you rather be the world’s best dancer or the world’s best singer?

The world’s best singer. I love singing; it makes me happy. Plus, my dad is a musician and singer, so I’d get to go tour the world with him. That sounds pretty awesome!

Would you rather have super sensitive taste buds or super sensitive hearing?

Super sensitive hearing. Super sensitive taste buds sound like I wouldn’t be able to eat anything without going crazy, while super sensitive hearing sounds more like a super power.

Would you rather always give bad advice or always get bad advice?

I would rather get bad advice. My friends always look to me when they need advice on anything, and it makes me happy to be able to help, or open someone’s mind, or give them options or my point of view and help them in any way. I can deal with bad advice from someone; if I think it’s wrong I would simply not do it and just follow my gut.
