WWE’s Natalie Eva Marie Is Our Kind of Diva

Even at the best of times, the first day of a new job is always slightly nerve-wracking. For Natalie Eva Marie, her first day on the job as a WWE Diva took place at WrestleMania XXX, in front of 75,167 screaming fans and millions more at home. No pressure.

“This job is literally everything I’ve ever wanted all rolled into one,” says Marie, a Cali-native. “It involves athleticism, physicality, acting, live performances and a lot of community outreach. And then I can get all dolled up and hit up a red carpet event. What more could a girl ask for?”

The flame-haired beauty can be seen on the E! reality show Total Divas, a behind-the-scenes look at the ladies of the WWE, and of course, on Raw and Smackdown.

What is your worst habit?

I say “um” a lot. In conversation, for some reason, I always say it. It hasn’t come out on TV though, which is weird but works for me.

Who is your favourite athlete?

Ronda Rousey. I haven’t watched her fight live, but I’ve met her and I watch every one of her fights. I met her last year at WrestleMania and she was awesome.

What is your hidden talent?

That’s a tough one. I’m a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, but I guess it would be that I can bake a mean cookie. If I bake my oatmeal chocolate chip cookie for you, trust me, you’d be in trouble.

Do you have any pre-show superstitions?

That’s funny, when I played soccer if I scored a hat trick or something, I would do everything the exact same for the next game. Now, with a match, we’re always in a different city and obviously I have to wear a different outfit so I can’t do anything like that. Instead, I always try to say a little prayer before going out.

Which superpower would you want to have?

I’d want to teleport. Just blink my eyes and be transported somewhere. The first stop would be home to my parents.

What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?

Hang out with my husband and eat whatever I want while lying in bed. That is literally my heaven.

What has been either your best or worst fan experience?

I’ve honestly never had a bad fan experience. Every interaction has been so great, without them I don’t really exist. The best experience would have to be whenever a child asks to meet me as their Make-A-Wish choice. That feeling of someone wanted to meet me and hang out with me as their wish is so powerful and humbling. Those kids are so amazing. We’ve also been able to travel to Afghanistan to meet the troops. To be able to tell them that I appreciate their service so much means a lot to me, especially since my dad was a Marine. I’ve had such incredible experience thanks to the WWE.
