An Exclusive Gucci Collection Just Dropped, and You’re Going to Want One of Everything
You know that old basketball axiom about “riding the hot hand”? The good people at menswear e-tailer Mr. Porter certainly do. They’ve tapped Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele — who’s in the midst of a two-and-a-half year hot streak that’s brought the Italian house back to the very pinnacle of high fashion (the sartorial equivalent of Klay dropping 41 on the Thunder) — to design them an exclusive capsule collection. And holy hell, is it ever dope.
If this capsule was a heat check on Alessandro’s part, he absolutely nailed it. Every item in the 43-piece collection is playful, luxurious and wildly eccentric, as if Wes Anderson’s wardrobe supervisor spent a summer in Atlanta drinking lean with Migos.
Seriously, though, the guy is out of his mind: there are floral tracksuits and electric blue hoodies embroidered with tigers crashing up against oversized houndstooth sport coats and fur-lined backless loafers, and somehow it all just works, because Alessandro Michele makes it work. It’s brilliant, he’s brilliant, and you should recognize both those facts by owning some of this collection.
