Conor McGregor Says with Better Stamina Training He Could’ve Beat Floyd Mayweather
Over the last few months, we’ve grown accustomed to seeing Conor McGregor use his social media channels to take jabs at Floyd Mayweather. So, now that the farce of the century is over, it’s a bit of a shock to see The Notorious One go online to express…uh, some humility. McGregor took to Instagram Thursday morning to share his thoughts on what wound up being a surprisingly entertaining fight, and congratulated Mayweather on his win by TKO last Saturday. How very humble of him, right?
Well, almost. In the MMA star’s lengthy Instagram caption he touched on various things, including how the bout, which lasted 10 rounds, was the longest fight he’d ever been in. He also stated he “honestly” felt that with “just a little change” in the way his team prepped him to endure a full 12 rounds, he could’ve “got the better result of the night.” The 10 weeks he had to get ready for the mega-event, he goes on to write, were simply too short a window for his camp.
The biggest takeaway? All he needed to pull off a historic, unprecedented upset was a little more time.
Hmm. You sure about that, bud?
McGregor also gave credit to Mayweather for his solid fighting technique, even suggesting he had the tools to enter the MMA game. Sooo…rematch, anyone?
