Everything That Went Down at the 5th Annual José Bautista Celebrity Golf Classic
When José Bautista isn’t hitting dingers out of the Rogers Centre, he’s hitting homers in our hearts. Such was the case at the 5th Annual José Bautista Celebrity Golf Classic, where a throng of celebrities, athletes, and influencers came together for a thrilling day on the links.
The annual event’s raison d’etre is to raise money for the Bautista Family Education Fund, which aids in educating student athletes at the post-secondary level. The BFEF is financing 47 athletes through post-secondary schooling on scholarships throughout the U.S. and Canada in the 2016-17 academic year.
This year’s tournament boasted a rousing round of 18 holes at The Club at Bond Head, as well as lunch, on-course activations, food, and drinks throughout the day.
The golf was followed by a luxury reception with live auctions accompanied by Bautista himself, his Toronto Blue Jays teammates, and other celeb attendees, from actors, recording artists, and members of the NHL, NBA, and TFC.
Being in its sixth year, the BFEF can now proudly say it’s had its first graduating class of student athletes. It also surpassed its fundraising goal this year.
The foundation’s aim is to help young players around the world realize that killing it in the classroom is just as important is killing it on the field/court/ring/rink. To qualify for a BFEF scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in or accepted into a post-secondary program, and must maintain a GPA of 2.8 or higher. The Fund is currently aiding 32 students. Hustle, hit, never quit!
