Earlier this week, Sharp hosted an exclusive private engagement for those with an affinity for watches, suits, and stiff drinks. Forty VVIP guests congregated in Toronto’s Yorkville area to get a closer look at a curated selection of Panerai watches, witness an exclusive reveal of a Garrison Bespoke blazer inspired by Panerai’s Radiomir Verde, and sample fine scotches — including an ultra-rare $9,000 bottle of The Dalmore Constellation 1981 Cask #3. Catering was provided by No Small Feast’s chef Matt Dunbar and a choice array of stogies were enjoyed courtesy of Havana Castle Cigars.

Tom Ramshaw knows it better than most: life’s no fun through clear waters.

After skippering his first boat at age 5, racing at the Olympic Games in Rio, and, just last June, competing in the Canada Sail Grand Prix off the coast of Halifax, Ramshaw has spent a lifetime on the water.

Years at sea yield virtues like instinct and adaptability. That’s what it takes to compete at the top. Yet the Toronto-born sailor, now 34, says it was never about the trophies. “I just want to enjoy the experience of competing for Canada on the biggest stage in the sport,” he says. His real hope? Watching “the next generation of young Canadians doing it even bigger and better than my generation.”
