Unleash Your Inner Yachtsman with Hugo Boss’s Responsible Sailing Capsule Collection
On November 8th, British yachtsman Alex Thomson embarked on an epic round-the-world yacht race. Starting from the picturesque French town of Les Sables d’Olonne, he will be participating in the 9th edition of the 28,000-mile Vendée Globe competition. The turquoise seas are familiar terrain for the intrepid adventurer: This will be his third attempt trying to clinch the glory title of being the first person to sail around the world non-stop, single-handedly, and unassisted. Luckily, Thomson will be kitted out in the second iteration of Hugo Boss’s Responsible Sailing Capsule.
Thomson was excited to collaborate with Hugo Boss due the luxury brand’s commitment in using responsible materials, such as recycled polyester (which sources plastic yarn from Plastic Bank), and cotton from CottonForLife. The brand’s eco-friendly and socially responsible ethos speaks to Thomson’s ardent desire to preserve the integrity of the world’s wild, captivating waters and the beautiful creatures which call it home.
But make no mistake, the biggest sailing race in the world is also not for the faint of heart. Since its inception in 1989, there have been 167 participants but only 89 who have successfully completed the 28,000-mile race, which is held every four years. But Thomson is well-equipped to navigate howling winds, mountainous tides, volatile temperatures, and other obstacles with his stylish Hugo Boss Yacht, complete with the latest technology and navigational equipment.
Renowned Industrial Designer Karim Rashid signed on to design the boat, which informed the collection: think clean lines and a pink, black and white palette for a sharp, yacht-ready wardrobe.
With an adventure on the horizon, Thomson is in excited anticipation to begin the race; and considering how they say “the third time’s a charm”, he’s ready to bring the win home.
