With Halloween behind us and November slowly creeping in, it is fair to say many of us are looking forward to winter activities. Before we know it, our favourite winter sports will be back in full swing — COVID-19 permitting — and we’ll need to gear up accordingly. Knowing that many of us will be in need of a wardrobe refresh, Prada and Holt Renfrew have just announced the Prada On Ice pop-up, running from November 2nd to the 21st in the Skybridge of the Vancouver store.
The exclusive installation sees Prada reinterpreting the world of winter sports through the lens of their trademark iconography. For the pop-up, Prada created a unique space and an exclusive collection that showcases “spectacular athleticism, intense challenges, the power of teamwork and the allure of speeding through the outdoors.”
The Holt Renfrew Vancouver Skybridge has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Many prominent design details are a nod to Canada’s love of hockey, while other corners cover an assortment of other winter activities. Vibrant red and blue graphics are plastered along the snow-white walls with a red LED strip displaying Prada’s logos, akin to the screens that encircle the stands in Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. The “stadium stands” have even been transformed into a functional area for customers to shop and enjoy the winter paradise. At the centre of the installation, a bright red bobsled carrying a pair of sharply dressed mannequins provide an anchor point.
While the snowy graphics and dynamic displays will draw visitors into the immersive pop-up, the real selling feature here is Prada’s special collection. Simplistic styles and ergonomic shapes are paired with bold designs created with cutting-edge materials and donned in the brand’s distinctive colour palette. In addition to a range of sports gear from skis (produced by Faction) to snowboards to snowshoes, Prada’s gathering also features high-performance accessories, mountain-inspired cashmere sweaters and oversized polyester jackets with colourful geometric and floral patterns.
Be sure to head to Holt Renfrew Vancouver Skybridge to enjoy the exclusive pop-up event before it wraps on the 21st, and if you aren’t a Vancouver local, have a look through the Prada On Ice virtual lookbook here.
