DJ Skratch Bastid Teams Up With Monkey Shoulder For Flowing Whisky & Pulsing Beats

Torontonians: clear your calendar for Saturday, July 29th — or Sunday, July 30th. Each day, there’s a four hour festival filled with cocktails by Monkey Shoulder Whisky and a dance floor to bump and grind, courtesy of DJ Skratch Bastid’s Juno-nominated turntable talents. We’re told the party has a mouth-watering menu, too.

If you’re a regular on Canada’s DJ scene, you might’ve heard about celebrity DJ Skratch’s legendary travelling BBQ parties. If not, here’s the rundown: this summer, Monkey Shoulder Whisky and DJ Skratch have teamed up to travel the world’s second largest country, accompanied by quality hip-hop acts — including Four Color Zack and DJ Nu-Marks, among others — with custom cocktails and fine foods to boot.

In Toronto, Saturday’s headlining guest is Pharoahe Monch, followed by Dâm-Funk on Sunday. When the party stopped by Calgary earlier this month, drinks included the three-ingredient O.M.G: a mix of orange, Monkey Shoulder Whisky, and ginger.

Toronto’s event takes place at The Bentway (250 Fort York Blvd), a new community space with a lush strip of grass under an urban concrete canvas, right in the heart of the Six. The space uses Toronto as “site, subject, and canvas,” hosting events that frame the urban scene front and centre. Green space meets the concrete jungle underneath the Gardiner Expressway, giving the “underground” DJ scene a solid venue.
