Bad Boy Cobalt Lights Up SHARP’s Toronto Launch Party

Following up last year’s launch party for Bad Boy Le Parfum was no easy feat — a top-secret speakeasy was one hell of an exclusive invite, after all — but last week’s celebration of Bad Boy Cobalt, a new companion scent from Carolina Herrera, was a worthy second act. The crew was small but mighty, with just under 100 Canadian business leaders, fashion moguls, and content creators meeting under the moody lights of Black + Blue on King Street West.

A sultry-fresh vibe laced the night’s activities, matching Bad Boy Cobalt’s composition: bites and beverages reflected the cologne’s blend of earth and flower. Guests sharpened their tongues with a glass of Dolcetto d’Alba, enjoying a curated contrast between the wine’s light floral notes and peppery base. When it came time to eat, hors d’oeuvres continued the theme of natural elegance; bottles of sake accented a decadent display of sushi and nigiri.

“We wanted a scent that felt revitalizing and surprising,” Carolina Herrera said of the new cologne. The night certainly took after Herrera’s words, encouraging spontaneity with a tattoo artist to live up to the Bad Boy moniker. On-the-spot body art was a hit: lines grew all night, spilling over with guests seeking custom designs.

Six feet tall and carved like lightning bolts, novel statues towered over the flashy scene, their silhouettes matching Carolina Herrera’s new bottle. The container you’ll spritz on your wrist, though, is small enough to fit in a gift bag (we slipped it in with our glossy print magazines, if you’re looking for inspiration). But don’t let its size fool you: this cologne packs a punch.

“With Cobalt, we wanted to create something a little mineraly, earthy, something like what the atmosphere smells like after a strong storm,” said Herrera. Woodsy hints of peppercorn and graphite minerals express first, with richer berry notes emerging later.

The refreshing, oceanic feel of Bad Boy Cobalt certainly resonates — the scent has racked up an impressive range of endorsements. The cologne’s list of ambassadors includes Josh Upshaw, Ty Ogunkoya, Eric Martin, and Aiden Andrews. Yet — if the launch party was any indicator — this scent doesn’t discriminate. As Herrera said, “We all need a little Bad Boy in our life sometimes.”
