Pharrell, Tiffany, and… Poseidon? Meet the Trident-Filled Tiffany Titan Collection
They’ve been on the frontlines of modern men’s jewellery since the trend began, but Tiffany & Co. isn’t one to rest on their laurels — quite the opposite, in fact. Tiffany & Co. tapped Pharrell Williams, multi-hyphenate-in-chief at Louis Vuitton, to craft another audacious, sparkling success: the nineteen-piece Tiffany Titan Collection.
As the name suggests, ancient Greek motifs feature prominently in the collection. Three-pronged spears hang off shimmering gold chains, taking the shape of dazzling pendants and forming diamond-studded links between luxe, Midas-touched bracelets and earrings.
Yet for Pharrell, who called jewellery “the punctuation mark of a person,” the trident is more than a shiny symbol; it has a deeper meaning. “The name of this collection, ‘Titan,’ draws inspiration from Poseidon, ruler of the sea, King of Atlantis — Atlantis, which is also the name of the community I grew up in Virginia Beach,” the designer told WWD.
Elaborating, he called each detail “intentional,” including his choice of materials. Black titanium, for instance, is “a physical manifestation of beauty in Blackness.” These pieces, composed of black titanium, yellow gold, and diamonds, are beyond parallel — the deep black metal gleams, augmenting the natural glow of gold links and sparkling diamond stripes.
As a symbol, the trident instantly commands attention. Perhaps a consequence of its roots in Greek mythology, the spears — whether they’re yellow gold, diamond, or titanium — feel like a declaration: eye-catching and empowering, Tiffany’s tridents are less an accessory than a statement. Of his inspiration, Williams told Vogue, “I’ve always been obsessed with water and Poseidon, so a lot of the links that we use [in the jewelry] are inspired by the trident he would carry.”
The Tiffany Titan Collection comes during a pivotal moment in men’s jewellery. After launching their first men’s engagement ring in 2021, Tiffany has doubled down on men’s jewellery with moves including a partnership with Jimin of BTS and the Tiffany Forge Collection.
Now that it has (finally) grown beyond plain gold wedding bands and the odd silver chain, modern men’s jewellery is poised to become a fast-growing market. The Tiffany Titan collection, packed with glamorous, gold chainlink earrings, glittering pendants, and defiant trident-shaped diamonds, offers a compelling explanation for the spike in men’s jewellery. Filled with precious metals and gemstones, jewellery — however dainty its reputation — challenges onlookers, daring them to take notice. If jewellery is a punctuation mark, the Tiffany Titan is a bold, underlined exclamation point: !
