Range Rover House: Inside These Exclusive Sanctuaries
It would be a gross understatement to say Range Rover House has been a success. More than 40 of these exclusive brand sanctuaries have popped-up in 20 countries around the world, becoming a hot ticket for the brand’s best customers and enthusiasts.
For a few days or a few weeks, invited guests to Range Rover have the opportunity to enjoy some of the greatest examples of modernist architecture in the world, alongside the world’s most luxurious vehicles. These are once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
“Our clients are seeking more intimate, memorable experiences, which offer an emotional connection beyond a traditional car showroom. As such, Range Rover House will continue to expand its reach across the globe, as we widen our offering with reservations opening for our fully electric Range Rover later this year,” said Geraldine Ingham, managing director of Range Rover.
“We are at an exciting time in Range Rover’s sixth decade, reimagining the future through sustainability-rich luxury experiences, as we move at pace to electrify the world’s most beautiful SUVs,” she added.
Locations for Range Rover House have included a private residence overlooking Sydney harbour, an Alpine retreat in Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc, on Cap D’Antibes along the French Riviera, and in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. Each House is designed under the direction of Range Rover’s chief creative officer, Gerry McGovern, to ensure it matches the brand’s relevant, modernist design philosophy. There’s a spontaneity to each Range Rover House that’s continually delightful. Fans never know when or where the next one will pop up, but everyone knows it will be spectacular. Here are some highlights of past Houses:
Mykonos, Greece
In July 2024, Range Rover House put down roots on the dreamy Greek island of Mykonos. Its stone architecture creates a one-of-a-kind exterior; natural materials infuse the modern Mykonos vacation with a thoughtful touch of heritage. Elegant views showcase clear skies over the Aegean Sea, enhanced by sandy beaches steeped in sunlight. Serenity envelops the experience, filling placid infinity pools and flowing through open plan living and entertainment spaces. Curated collaborations with luxury partners include personalized driving experiences, wellness sessions, and fine dinin
Carmel, USA
It all started in 2022 with the first Range Rover House in Carmel, California in 2022. The house itself is a world-class modernist treasure, designed by architect W. David Martin. The magazine Architectural Digest said, “the house neatly encapsulates the modernist principles of bold, clean lines, structural clarity, absence of extraneous ornament, and soft, supple interior appointments designed for ergonomic comfort and beauty.” (If you’re drawing a parallel here between the architecture and the SUV, well, that’s no accident.)
Guests of the House were invited to a series of intimate talks with various luminaries, including Jamie Bush, one of the world’s foremost interior designers. There were tastings and parties, and, of course, the debut of an exclusive new limited edition. Dubbed the Range Rover SV Carmel Edition and hand-build by the craftspeople at SV Bespoke, its cabin was inspired by the beaches of Carmel and features contrasting two-tone Perlino and Deep Garnet semi-aniline leather. It was such a hit, Range Rover House went back to Monterey Bay again last year.
Courmayeur, Italy
This opulent resort nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc has long been a favourite low-key winter hangout for celebrities, but not even they would’ve been granted access to Range Rover first Italian outpost. Guests were invited to private yoga classes and spa treatments for a chance to unwind after enjoy priority access to world-class ski slopes.
Various experts in their respective fields also came to give masterclasses on mixing perfume, and cooking. Après ski each evening was at the Chalet de l’Ange, a sustainably-minded mountain oasis in this historic resort, decorated for the pop-up with input from Range Rover’s design team.
Cap d’Antibes, France
For the first Range Rover House is France, guests were treated to a private dinner with the chefs of the Royal Monceau Raffles Paris, and a pastry workshop with chef Quentin Lechât. Invited guests took a road trip (in Range Rovers, of course) to visit of the MAEGHT Foundation, one of the world’s foremost museums of modern art. The Caviar de Neuvic and Bollinger were flowing upon guests return to the grand House overlooking the Mediterranean.
Whistler, Canada
Last winter, Range Rover House came to Canada for the first time and we were on hand to soak it all in. The House itself was perched high in the Coast Mountain range in Whistler, British Columbia, at the jaw-droppingly beautiful Wedge Mountain Lodge. In the background were the jagged peaks of the towering Garibaldi range.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into an atmosphere that Range Rover describes as a “sanctuary,” a modernist mountain oasis where guests were offered a vast menu of experiences. There were intimate fireside chats with luminaries like former World-Cup alpine ski champion Lindsey Vonn, and leading financial advisor Chris Dewdney, guided fragrance experience from Jo Malone, whisky tasking, personalized style advice from Harry Rosen and so much more.
As if all that weren’t enough, the company’s SV Bespoke division unveiled its latest limited-production model, the Range Rover SV Arete Edition. A Canadian exclusive, this long-wheelbase machine is limited to just eight examples and — according to its designers — was inspired by the natural richness of this iconic Canadian mountain range and the tranquil and undisturbed alpine atmosphere.
Yeoju, Korea
The House that Range Rover built landed in Korea for the first time this past January. Located in picturesque Yeoju, Gyeonggi, on a modernist estate overlooking the region’s sublime natural beauty, guests were introduced to the SV Bespoke Commissioning Suite program. Dedicated SV Bespoke experts had one-on-ones with clients, amidst wine tastings, scent blending experiences, sound bath meditation and fine dining hosted by celebrity chef Sam Kim. With their dedicated representative from SV Bespoke, invited guests could experience the pinnacle of Range Rover personalization and refinement, designing and customizing a tailored, one-off special edition to suit their individual tastes.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
As one of the most important markets in the world for Range Rover, it was only a matter of time before the House came to the Middle East. On the shores of the Gulf at Range Rover House Abu Dhabi, a select group of guests were invited to the debut of the Range Rover SV Bespoke Sadaf Edition. Inspired by the historical local tradition of pearl diving — “sadaf” is the Arabic term for seashell — the new Range Rover SV Bespoke model features a pearlescent white exterior and deep blue interior giving it a distinctly elevated appearance.
“Rover SV Sadaf edition is a sublime example of Range Rover’s peerless DNA; beautifully crafted, understated and highly desirable,” said Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, chief creative officer of Range Rover. Each of the 20 limited-edition vehicles will be presented with an exclusive art piece curated by Emirati conceptual designer, sculptor and calligrapher Matar Bin Lahej.
Hsinchu, Taiwan
Range Rover House Taiwan was situated in a stunning venue designed by architect Weizhi Chen, who is known for a reductive design philosophy that focuses on integrating architecture withing the natural landscape. (If you’ve ever been inside the latest Range Rover, with its sweeping glass panoramas, you’ll know the feeling.) Here, guests were able to enjoy talks from renowned designers, connoisseurs and flower design masters, sample exceptional vintages with sommelier Greenhand Ko, and join a Taiwanese paper culture experience with Shiyi Yang. The days ended with private dinner from JE Kitchen, a much beloved Michelin-rated restaurant.
Singapore
As Alistair Scott, managing director for JLR in Singapore explained, “Singapore is a nation with a growing ‘high society’ establishment; clients appreciate exclusivity and personally invest time and money into lifestyle experiences.” For a few days in March, Range Rover House landed at the new and spectacular Singapore EDITION, a downtown hotel that feels more like a resort. Designed by the internationally acclaimed Safdie Architects, led by Moshe Safdie, in collaboration with local studio DP Architects, Singapore EDITION mirrored the refinement and tranquil airiness found in the cabin of the new Range Rover.
In addition to designing their own one-off Range Rover with experts from SV Bespoke, guests were treated to a culinary masterclass prepared by Mattia Salussoglia, executive chef at the Singapore EDITION, as well as wine tasting by award-winning sommelier Daisuke Kawai.
Beijing, China
In the Chinese market, Range Rover dominates the luxury SUV segment, recently capturing over 50 per cent of the market share. (To describe the full-size Range Rover as “popular” in China would be a gross understatement.) The opening of the first House in China was celebrated at an exclusive night at the Beijing Guardian Art Centre. Later, guests were invited to the PuXuan Hotel in the heart of the city’s bustling commercial and artistic district. The renowned hotel seamlessly blends, “the charm of Eastern culture fused with a modernist design ethos,” according to Range Rover. Also on hand was celebrated visual artist Tim Yip, who paid homage to ‘A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains’ – a masterpiece of the Song Dynasty – with his exclusively crafted pieces that combine classic art with modern architecture.
This is just the beginning for Range Rover House in China; locations will be popping up in the Greater Bay Area, East China, as well as the Southwest later this year. Meanwhile, the Range Rover SV Bespoke service will officially launch in the country later in 2024, in order to provide the ultimate in personalised services to discerning clients.
