All-New 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten Leads the Luxury Truck Revolution
Ram x SHARP
In the same way that workwear staples like blue jeans and canvas Carhartt jackets were once reserved for, you know, doing work, so too were pickup trucks once used exclusively by people who get their hands dirty for a living.
Those days, of course, are long gone. Carhartt is doing collabs with fashion big shots like Junya Watanabe and Marni, while luxury labels including Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Miu Miu have all recently offered up a take on Carhartt’s familiar Detroit jacket. And blue jeans? They’re a staple of literally everybody’s wardrobe.
On the automotive front, Ram is taking pickup trucks to new heights of luxury with the all-new, ultra-premium 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten. You’re looking at a six-figure pickup truck that could give any luxury car you care to name a run for its money. More on that later. First, how did we get here?
The Rise (and Rise) of Luxury Trucks

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that pickup trucks have — over the last 30 years or so — gradually become more mainstream. Just look down your street.
Back in the mid-1970s, Dodge began offering trucks that were more than just utility vehicles. The brand’s “Adult Toys” advertising campaign in 1976 helped launch the Dodge Warlock, a truck with solid oak sideboards and gold pinstripes on the paintwork, as well as the Macho Power Wagon — later renamed the Power Ram — and the high-performance, chrome-covered Lil’ Red Express.
The rise of hand-stitched leather and real wood trim — followed by cushy air suspension and high-tech features — prompted a corresponding rise in pickup prices. Over the past five years, much of the growth in the pickup market has been at the upper end of the price bracket, with luxury machines like the Ram 1500 Limited, Longhorn, and now Tungsten, as well as high-performance trucks such as the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX and the all-new, 540-horsepower Ram 1500 RHO.

Most owners buy these so-called “lifestyle trucks” not for work — or at least not only for work — but for fun, for hunting, fishing, hauling dirt bikes, and boats, and going places with friends, and family. They’re driven by engineers, architects, and business owners.
The rise, and rise, and rise in the popularity of luxury trucks has as much to do with advances in technology — air suspension, surround-view cameras, and advanced safety features — as it does with changing customer demands. True luxury doesn’t just mean having the newest, shiniest expensive thing, it also means enjoying greater freedom and capability. In other words, modern luxury is meant to be enjoyed, not babied and kept in a vault.
What Makes a Tungsten?

To that end, the all-new, ultra-premium 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten lets owners have the comfort and premium amenities of a luxury car with the go-anywhere, do-anything capability of a pickup.
The Tungsten’s four-corner active air suspension is a game changer, offering the sort of ride comfort luxury SUV buyers have come to expect. Another small but important luxury feature is the all-new power tailgate found on the Tungsten; pushing a button on the keyfob automatically raises and lowers the tailgate.
From the outside, the Tungsten model is distinguished by a premium LED tail light design and an exclusive front grille that gives the truck a contemporary vibe. But it’s really inside the truck where the Tungsten makes its true luxury intentions known.

Climb up into the cabin and you’ll find a two-tone Indigo/Sea Salt leather interior, with contrast stitching and diamond quilting. Those seats, by the way, are heated and ventilated and covered in Natura Plus leather, with massage function and powered headrests. The closer you look at the details, the better it gets. Note the Tungsten badge on the centre console featuring inlaid metal lettering and diamond knurling, and the shifter dial that’s almost jewel-like, looking as if it was hewn from a block of crystal. A 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system tops it all off.
The 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten couldn’t be further from your stereotypical truck. It’s the ultimate modern expression of the luxury truck trend, from a brand that helped invent the genre. And it’ll pair just as well with a Carhartt jacket and jeans as it will with a Loro Piana suit.
