If you haven’t heard his name, you’ve almost certainly seen Sølve Sundsbø’s work. Spanning from short films to commercial stills and moving images, his portfolio is packed with celebrated partners: Chanel and Cartier, Gucci and Prada. Sundsbø’s resume rivals the lineup at Paris Fashion Week. So, when SOREL tapped Sundsbø to capture its latest collection — a collaboration with the London-based streetwear label, Aries — the spotlight was especially bright.
Propelled by durable, performance-driven designs — and distinguished by the snowy symbol of a polar bear — SOREL has raced to the forefront of footwear. Classic offerings like the Caribou boot are both fashionable and functional; for Canada’s frosty climate, it’s the perfect formula. With Aries in the studio, however, the shoemaker underwent a metamorphosis. “This collaboration captures the energy and rebellious spirit that Aries brings to streetwear, while staying true to SOREL’s commitment to durability and performance,” says SOREL President Cory Long. Synthesizing Aries’ street-ready aesthetic with SOREL’s utilitarian appeal, the collection shines.
For proof, look no further than the new CALLSIGN HORIZON Boots — or, as SOREL describes them, the centrepiece of the collaboration. Taking after the celebrated silhouette of the Caribou, the new boots infuse a SOREL staple with Aries’ daring design code. Yet, true to brand tradition, the boots are laden with functional features: a waterproof Gore-Tex™ upper, molded outsole, and removable micro shroud, to name a few.
“It’s been exciting to see how Aries has reinterpreted our functional silhouette with striking detailing, premium materials, and an edge that challenges convention,” adds Long. The feeling is mutual. In a statement, Sofia Prantera, Founder and Creative Director of Aries, said the design “feels authentic to both brands — refined, bold, and built for the way people really live.”

Joining forces for the exclusive launch, Aries and SOREL are complementary colours. “This partnership with SOREL presents a unique opportunity to converge Aries’ DNA of quiet rebellion and subculture influence with SOREL’s rich heritage in performance footwear,” Prantera adds. To that end, the offerings expand beyond the footwear aisle: 2-way zips, a cotton jersey fleece, and co-branded beanies will also stock the shelves.
