The matchup between the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators this weekend will be a bit different from the rest of these teams’ regular-season games. For one thing, it will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, as part of the 2025 NHL Global Series. For another, it will mark the entrance of Swiss luxury watchmaker NORQAIN to the NHL’s roster of top-tier sponsors.

NORQAIN was launched in 2018 by Swiss watchmaking scions Ben Küffer and Ted Schneider alongside Mark Streit, a former captain of both the New York Islanders and the Swiss national hockey team. As a scrappy independent brand with Swiss roots, NORQAIN has earned a reputation for its ties to a wide range of pro sports and its Wild One, a skeletonized sports watch with top-shelf credentials, including a chronometer-certified movement and a case crafted from NORTEQ, a carbon fibre composite. Thanks to a high-profile investment from Canadian NHL legend Sidney Crosby, the brand has become particularly synonymous with professional hockey.

The reveal of NORQAIN’s NHL partnership in Stockholm this weekend is no accident. Not only does the game take place on the brand’s European home turf, it will see Crosby face off against Predators Captain and fellow NORQAIN investor Roman Josi. To mark the occasion, NORQAIN will award a unique 18 k white gold Wild One watch to the Player of the Game at the end of each of this weekend’s two Sweden matches.
“This is a special day because we’ve been working towards it since we founded the company in 2018,” says Josi. “NORQAIN’s roots are in hockey, and this tie-up with the NHL becomes confirmation of the values and aspirations we both have. This moment truly embodies NORQAIN’s spirit of doing things our own way.”
The deal gives NORQAIN full International licensing rights in the United States, Canada, and Europe for the NHL’s 32 teams’ logos and branding, which will surely lead to some new hockey-centric designs, the first of which is set to launch in 2026. For anyone who can’t wait until next year to add a timepiece in Maple Leafs blue and white or Canadiens red, white, and blue to their collection, NORQAIN provides a unique solution. Thanks to its online configurator, anyone can create their own customized Wild One of One in no less than 3.5 million variations, including their team’s colours.
