Inside Hublot & SHARP’s Launch Party for the Big Bang Unico Carbon Canada
On the 51st floor, high above Toronto’s bustling Yorkville neighbourhood, VIP guests of SHARP and Hublot gathered for a momentous occasion: The launch of the Big Bang Unico Carbon Canada. The first country-wide edition for our market made a splash with guests, and rightfully so. With a crisp execution of red and black carbon, a mix of white and red indices on the dial, and no more than a subtle red maple leaf silhouette on its caseback, the new timepiece garnered ample attention. As Toronto’s iconic CN tower glimmered in the background, attendees gathered for a closer look at Hublot’s limited-edition release.
The Big Bang edition launched at AP Yorkville, a stylish rooftop restaurant by award-winning chef Antonio Park. Invitees were treated to cocktails and small bites of Park’s signature Japanese and Pan-Asian inspired fare, served just as the sun began to set. Guests also enjoyed a special cigar lounge, staged with offerings by Arturo Fuente — a long-time partner of the Swiss luxury watchmaker.
While guests enjoyed the luxe cocktail hour, the limited-edition watches remained under cover. The new timepieces weren’t revealed until Hublot president Natacha Lamour-Nahim took centre stage to kick things off. Addressing VIP guests and clients, Lamour-Nahim talked about the significance of this Canadian market release, the strength of watch collecting in Canada, and her personal connection to our country.
With a healthy network of authorized retailers across the country, Hublot has developed a strong position in the Canadian market. In recent years, the Swiss watchmakers has only strengthened its presence, with boutiques opening in Vancouver and Toronto.
Collectors in Canada aren’t the only ones delighted by these developments. As noted in her welcome speech, Lamour-Nahim has long kept Canada close to her heart — the Hublot president spent a portion of her formative years in Montreal. So, as Hublot brought the new Canadian edition to market, it was a bit of a full circle moment for Lamour-Nahim. And, by all accounts, the new timepiece was met with warm reception, leading us to wonder what comes next for Hublot and future Canadian releases.
