Fifty years ago, New Zealand motorcycle racer Burt Munro set a land speed record, tearing down Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats on a highly customized Indian Motorcycle streamliner he dubbed the Munro Special. So it’s fitting that to honour the anniversary of Munro’s record breaking ride, watchmaker Baume & Mercier has teamed up with Indian Motorcycle to create its own custom racer.
Limited to 1,967 pieces in commemoration of the historic feat, the Clifton Club Burt Munro Tribute racing watch is stamped with the Munro Special’s number 35 on the second hand counter and its 184 mph record-breaking speed highlighted on the tachymeter bezel.
“You live more for five minutes going fast on a bike than other people do in all their life,” Munro once said. Consider this a stylish reminder to live life in the fast lane.
