Motorcycle technology has reached a point at which if you want to ride something that accelerates as fast as an F1 car, you can certainly do so. But riding isn’t just about going fast. It’s about the freedom of the open highway, the sound of a well-tuned engine spooling up, and, of course, looking cool while you do it.
The newest Moto Guzzi V7 II Racer ticks all of these boxes, with a special emphasis on the latter: there may be no cooler looking bike on the road. With styling reminiscent of the café racers of the 1950s and ’60s, it’s a thoroughly modern machine underneath: a lowered 750cc V-twin motor for improved stability, plus such modern niceties as ABS and a new six-speed gearbox. With equal parts style, substance and comfort, you’d be tempted to call it a compromise, but no one else needs to know that.
